Alumnus, Former CIA Analyst, Speaks to Seniors

For its tenth annual Senior Leadership Dinner, the Character and Leadership Development Program invited Ned Price ’01 to speak to the Class of 2018. Since graduating from St. Mark’s, Ned has spent more than a decade putting his talents for analysis and communication to use in the highest levels of the U.S. government, including the Central Intelligence Agency, the National Security Council, and the White House.

At the Leadership Dinner, Ned talked about his career path as well as his experience at St. Mark’s, where he was the editor of the Marksmen yearbook and recipient of the School Flag. He encouraged students to consider lives of public service and remarked on the importance of acknowledging the hard work of the U.S. intelligence community. Ned also stressed the need to be receptive to advice and ideas from across the political spectrum. In addition to his address at the dinner, Ned also spoke with a group of Upper School students and faculty during the school day.

After graduating from Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government, Ned worked for former Defense Secretary William Cohen at The Cohen Group and also as a CIA Analyst. He later served as a member of the National Security Council, in which capacity he worked for the Obama White House as Special Assistant to the President for National Security Affairs, specializing in Strategic Communications. Presently a National Security Analyst and Contributor for NBC, Ned also finds the time to teach in the Security Studies Program at George Washington University.
