McDonald’s Week Kicks Off

On Monday, November 12, students from St. Mark’s and Hockaday gathered at the McDonald’s on Preston/Royal before school for the start of McDonald’s Week. Each year, the junior classes from both schools host a week of events and activities, all in support of Austin Street Center, a community shelter that helps transition individuals out of homelessness. In December, the junior classes will host a dinner at the shelter and serve hot meals donated by McDonald’s.

“This will be an awesome week with many fun aspects, but our main goal is to get the St. Mark’s community truly engaged in supporting Austin Street Center,” said McDonald’s Week Co-Chairs Thomas Loose ’20, Jackson Singhal ’20, and Christian Duessel ’20. “The Class of 2020 has put in a huge effort to make this a great McDonald’s Week!”

Monday morning featured tests of strength, agility, and speed, including an obstacle course and weightlifting competition. And, despite the 40-degree weather, Marksmen also bobbed for apples.

After a successful week of fundraising, students from St. Mark’s and Hockaday delivered and passed out hot meals at Austin Street Center on Thursday, November 29.
