Alumni Nationwide Give Back

Marksmen across the nation joined together on Saturday, Feb. 17, to give back to their communities during the Alumni Association’s 2024 National Day of Service, continuing the values of service and civic responsibility they learned at St. Mark’s.

From coast to coast, more than 60 Marksmen and guests in five major cities spent the day supporting their local communities:

  • In Austin, alumni sorted donations and interacted with the residents at Casa Marianella.
  • In Dallas, alumni gathered on campus and assembled 300 bagged lunches and snack bags for the residents of Austin Street Center.
  • In Houston, alumni inspected, sorted and repackaged donated food items for community distribution at the Houston Food Bank.
  • In Los Angeles, alumni boxed and sorted food items at the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank.
  • In New York City, alumni served breakfast to guests at The Bowery Mission.

“We teach boys to care for their communities, whether that be their families, their school or their city,” said Jack Mallick ’14, Ahlberg & Ribman Family Director of Alumni Relations. “It’s always gratifying to see these lessons put into practice by alumni across the country.”

Since 2019, the National Day of Service has been an opportunity for local alumni clubs to organize volunteer efforts in their cities. This year’s leadership included:

  • Nick Cassavechia ’04, Chair of the Activities and Alumni Weekend Committee
  • Luke Kline ’07, Austin Regional Club Chair and Charles Branch ’10, Alumni Board member
  • Reid McGlamery ’96, Los Angeles Regional Club Chair
  • Stuart Nance ’78, Houston Regional Club Chair
